My Approach

I provide assessment and psychotherapy to adolescents (16+), adults, and families.

My approach to therapy is fairly low-key. It is important to me to offer a comfortable, nonjudgemental environment to explore client-identified struggles, barriers, or trauma.

Although I draw from many theoretical approaches, I am primarily a Cognitive Therapist, so my main psychotherapeutic approach will be identifying and replacing maladaptive thoughts with more productive ones.

Working with the experience unresolved trauma is a common theme in my practice. If unresolved trauma is negatively affecting a client’s daily life, we’ll develop a plan to process the trauma while simultaneously managing the symptoms that are causing distress. Sustainable recovery and healing from trauma is ultimately the goal for many clients I work with.

Psychoeducation is another primary approach I use.  We’ll work together to understand what is happening in your brain (foundations of neuroscience) and bring awareness to why you’re experiencing, for example, unmanageable anxiety or overthinking rumination.

I also draw from attachment theory which will give us insight into your current relationship dynamics.  We will address aspects of your attachment to others in order to understand how to promote healthy relationships in your life.
