About Me

Katie Gjelten

I grew up in Alaska and Washington, but my husband and I have called Missoula home since 2003. We have two children, a labrador and a love to stay active and outdoors.

I have been a licensed mental health therapist since 2010 and opened my private practice in 2020 as an independent practitioner.

I earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology from Gonzaga University and a Master of Social Work (MSW) degree from University of Montana.

I have over 20 years of professional experience in counseling and social work, with extensive experience in therapy and clinical social work in settings that include high school therapeutic programs, community mental health and the Emergency Department at St. Patrick’s Hospital in Missoula, MT.

My private practice is based out of downtown Missoula, MT. My private office and private waiting room is in a shared building with other practitioners that also value providing a comfortable, safe and confidential space for our clients.

For those that are unable to meet in person, or are out of the area, I also offer counseling sessions via secure telehealth platforms throughout the state of Montana (license #984).

In 2024, I attained my Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) credential from Washington state (license #LW61455762). I facilitate counseling sessions through secure telehealth platforms for all Washington residents.
